Former NewsDay managing editor Moses Mudzwiti resigned of his own volition two weeks ago, having contributed immensely to the founding of the newspaper.

This is contrary to a report in The Herald yesterday that Mudzwiti was pressured to resign after NewsDay failed to make a significant impact on the market.

“Moses was one of the first persons approached to preside over the planning of NewsDay and was managing editor for a year before the paper got its certificate of registration three weeks ago,” said Alpha Media Holdings group human resources manager, Loud Ramakgapola.

“His experience was vital in setting up systems that are being applied at NewsDay today.

“It is unfortunate that he worked on only two editions of the paper before he left.

To then say he was pressured to leave because the paper failed to make an impact, albeit after just two editions, is grossly incorrect and mischievous.”
