Zimbabwe’s Mighty Warriors put up a stellar performance thrashing visiting Botswana in a Unity Cup match at Rufaro yesterday.

REPORT BY RANGANAI DZOTIZEI

In form Zimbabwe striker Rutendo Makore fired a brace in either half with Rudo Neshamba, Marjoury Nyaumwe and substitute Rufaro Machingura weighing in with a goal each in a devastating show from the regional champions.

In a game played under a dark cloud in the wake of Adam Ndlovu’s death, the Mighty Warriors did live to their promise and what a dedication they gave to the legend with a fine exhibition.

Within two minutes, the Mighty Warriors were in front thanks to Makore, who headed in Ruvimbo Mutyavaviri’s corner with aplomb, beating Peggy Segokgo in goals.

In true Adamski style, she imitated the “machine gun” celebration, much to the fans’ admiration.

Neshamba was next on the score card after 16 minutes with another header, this time from Makore’s assist from the left channel.

The second half saw the goals flooding and on the 75th minute, Nyaumwe received Felistas Muzongondi’s pass in the midfield and buried it past Segokgo.

Nine minutes from time, Makore made it four before Machingura marked her introduction a minute later with a chested finish from close range from the impressive Mutyavaviri.
