CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League side Buffaloes are set to regroup tomorrow in Mutare for their 2013 season preparations.

The army side, who had a commendable outing ending the 2012 season on the sixth position on the premiership log standings, are expected to retain the bulk of their players, but the future of defender Themba Ndlovu who won the club’s Player of the Year award, is uncertain as he is reportedly wanted by a number of top-flight clubs.
Ndlovu is understood to be training with Highlanders. Veteran defender Dananai Chinowawa (34), is once again expected to use that vast experience in the country’s top-flight league and lead a cast of youngsters who played a pivotal role in the side’s success last year.
The youngsters who played a significant role last season include winger Phillip Thembani, midfieder Roy Mwenga and Jeffrey Takunda. Unlike their fellow Eastern Region (PSL) side Triangle, who have been active in players transfer market, the soldiers have been quite. Buffaloes chairman Hlanganiso Matangaidze said although they were going to retain most of their players, they were going to add some few new acquisitions.
“We are going to start our preparations on January 14 here in Mutare and we are looking forward to start from where we left last season. We haven’t moved an inch from our expectations last year because we also wanted the championship although it went the other way,’’ he said.
“We are expecting a lot this season; we are even going for the championship. We are going to retain our players as well as the services of our head coach Saul Chaminuka,” he said.
