Now that the man who had shut the door on our soccer players Klaus Dieter Pagles is gone with his tiki-taka, we expect the new broom Ian Gorowa to reverse that suicidal decision.

In a rather shocking move that left almost everyone surprised, the 63-year-old German mentor, whom I will not miss at all, had written off players like Willard Katsande, Bradley Pritchard and Nyasha Mushekwi, claiming that they could not fit in to his football philosophy — whatever that means.
To me, it was tantamount to telling a soldier prepared to fight for his country that they are not allowed to do so. Everyone wants to serve their country and no one has the right to deny them that right.
Denying somebody that right is not only unacceptable but somehow treasonous.
That is why Zimbabweans felt some fresh air when Gorowa announced that he would dump the so called tiki-taka for a results oriented approach. Gorowa admires the first coach to take us to the African Cup of Nations in 2004, Sunday Chidzambwa and Charles Mhlauri who also guided our flagship team to the same competition two years later.
Gorowa’s argument for venerating the two gentlemen is basically premised on their achievements, rather than playing beautiful soccer with no results.
Pagels lost all his competitive matches, while Gorowa opened his account with a 3-0 win over Mauritius in the African Championships (Chan) qualifier away. He achieved this after he left Pagels’ philosophy in the scrapyard.

It is wise to use your best arsenal all the time.
It might be too early to judge the former Dynamos and Black Rhinos striker, but in my view he has started very well, given that he is serving under a bankrupt administration, who just this week failed to provide a practice venue for the Warriors ahead of the second leg against Mauritius at Rufaro today.
Gorowa seems to be overhauling all what Pagels stood for and we hope he will not ignore players such as Katsande, Pritchard, Mushekwi and Costa Nhamoinesu who still have a lot to offer the country.
Apart from the fact they play in competitive leagues, these players still have age on their side and with qualifying for the 2015 African Cup of Nations Gorowa’s priority, these players and others like Carlington Nyadombo are surely needed.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach must give everyone an equal opportunity, including the so called spent forces like Vusa Nyoni and Onismor Bhasera. Our team needs experience and these players will provide just that.
