Delta Force Sports Trust, the local organisers, said the preparations for hosting the tournament were in place, and they are looking forward to Zimbabwe dominating.

The Trust’s representative Clyde Musonda said the only hindrance has been the inadequate funds, something they are working on.

“I am confident that our representative Tapiwa [Tembo] will win because of his recent impressive form in South Africa where he is yet to lose a fight this year.

“We will host a fundraising dinner in the capital to increase our resource base,” said Musonda.

Musonda added that they have requested Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive officer Karikoga Kaseke to be their patron, which Kaseke has agreed to.

The WBU bantam-weight belt which arrived in the country two weeks ago will see Tembo contesting for it against Zambian champion Gibon Kamota on October 26.
