Speaking at a function to launch the initiative, Muzawazi said the African story has been distorted because of Africans’ approach towards time.

“In Africa, consciousness of time is regarded as a foreign aspect and that has a bearing to documentation of the day,” said Muzawazi, who is passionate about telling the African story from an African perspective.

“The only reason why Africa is known as the land of war is because someone else has told our story. The bad perception is because we have done nothing about it.”

He said his target was to open an office in Kenya in January and another in Johannesburg in March next year.

As a student of international humanitarian law in 2010, Muzawazi led a group of eight students and professors on the Pan-African Study Tour, a seven-month educational expedition across 21 African countries from Morocco to South Africa.

The launch of the African Book of Records will culminate in the recording of 50 Most Historical Companies in Zimbabwe.
