HWANGE staged a dramatic comeback to beat FC Platinum 3-2 in a Castle Lager Premeir Soccer League match at Mandava Stadium yesterday.

The victory ensured that Hwange maintains its pole position on the log with six points from two matches. The comeback from a two-goal deficit was inspired by Warriors defender Eric Chipeta and Rodwell Chinyengetere who was playing his second match having been sidelined for 18 months by injury.

Aleck Marime brace’s and a wonder goal from Chipeta, straight from the corner flank cancelled out two first half goals by Mitchell Katsvairo and Qadar Amin.

Hwange came into the match bubbling with confidence following last week’s 5-1 thrashing of Buffaloes at the Colliery while the platinum miners were desperate to collect all set of three points following their one- all draw with Chiredzi FC in the opening match.

With 18 minutes into the game Njabulo Ncube released Mitchell Katsvairo on the right who responded with a scorcher for the hosts’ opener.

Referee Allen Basvi awarded the host a penalty with 12 minutes before the breather when Chipeta fouled Thabani Kamusoko in the box. Amini stepped up to give the Zvishavane-based side a two- goal advantage.

Ten minutes after the breather Marime headed home from Chipeta’s corner kick.

In the 78 minute Chipeta scored straight from the corner kick. Marime then silenced the hosts when he headed another Chipeta corner right at the death to seal the victory for the coal miners
