Jongwe replaces Nelson Matongorere who was fired at the beginning of the year following a Ballon D’or voting scandal.

Although Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze denied Jongwe’s appointment, sources at Zifa said the former Kiglon and CAPS United coach has landed the crucial technical post.

“Jongwe is the new Zifa technical director and is set for induction on Tuesday before commencing his duties. He was the successful candidate after interviews,” said a source.

Four applicants including Gibson Homela were vying for that post. CAPS United coach Taurai Mangwiro was also tipped to be appointed.
