The circus surrounding the purported ouster of Zanu PF Mashonaland West chairman, Temba Mliswa continues with President Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao attacking fellow politburo members for allegedly misrepresenting decisions by the ruling party’s decision making body.

In an apparent reference to Zanu PF spokesperson, Zhuwao told The Standard yesterday that some bigwigs purported to speak on behalf of the politburo yet it would be their personal opinions.
Mugabe’s nephew said when he speaks his mind, he does not portray it as if it was coming from the politburo, unlike some senior party members whom he accused of having a penchant to mislead the nation about politburo deliberations.
Gumbo recently said the no vote of confidence passed on Mliswa was null and void as the politburo recently passed a resolution banning suspensions in the party before the December elective congress.
But Zhuwao said the vote of no confidence passed on Mliswa was procedural and the purported politburo recommendation by Gumbo was a “pie in the sky.”
“It appears that the procedure conducted is in order, meaning that Mliswa is no longer the chairman of Mashonaland West Province,” he said.
“Furthermore, I have relooked at the politburo minutes and determined that the politburo never issued a moratorium on disciplinary matters contrary to claims by Cde Rugare Gumbo.”

Zanu PF Mashonaland West deputy chairman, Ziyambi Ziyambi has also added more confusion to the saga, insisting Mliswa was still suspended.
He also said Gumbo “jumped the gun” by commenting on Mliswa’s case before receiving a letter to that effect from the province.
“It is our belief and understanding that Cde Gumbo jumped the gun and was only supposed to comment after the relevant offices had received our letters. We consulted some politburo members as to the existence of such a resolution and were advised that nothing of that sort was ever discussed in as far as a vote of no confidence is concerned,” Ziyambi said in a statement.
But Mliswa maintained he was still the chairman and gathered districts chairpersons at Chinhoyi University of Technology Gym Hall for a meeting.
Gumbo yesterday said he stood by his statement.
