The Standard, published by Alpha Media Holdings (AMH), now leads with a wide gap followed by The Sunday Mail which boasts of just 36 000 likes.AMH also publishes NewsDay, Southern Eye and the Zimbabwe Independent newspapers.Commenting on the page, a reader, Norman Sir Mika said:  “I am proud to be part of a page that keeps us updated on in depth issues affecting our country, keep up the good work.”

Another reader from South Africa, Nonsikelelo Luthuli said, “I am able to keep track of what is happening in Zimbabwe and more importantly, I enjoy the discussions on the page.”The Standard has been on Facebook since 2010 and by January this year, the paper had 70 000 likes in a space littered with millions of fan pages with popular themes like football and crime.

This week alone, The Standard Zimbabwe page engaged over 30 000 people with an average views of 10 000 per post.Through its page, The Standard gives updates on developments in the country and engages the paper’s audience in robust debate on various social, economic, political and entertainment issues.The Standard sister paper, NewsDay, which has a record 410 000 likes, takes the pole position among all the country’s dailies.
