The nomadic gaffer who joined the army side last season has already set plans and is expected to name various schools this week where he would deploy Buffaloes scouts to identify talent.

At the army side, Chunga is being helped on talent identification by former Highlanders midfielder Eddie Dube, Richard Marandu and Livingstone Gwanzura.

Ex Caps United midfielder Joseph Takaringofa who replaced Timothy “Sicho” Masachi as the club’s first assistant coach remains with the senior team.

In an interview with Standardsport, Chunga said his vision was to develop football in Mutare.

“I want to develop football here. l have a passion for junior development and that is why where ever l go, l would try to come up with such programmes,” he said.

“In Mutare we are targeting schools such as Mutare Boys High. l have already met with Chancellor Primary School soccer coach Masimba Chihohwa and is happy with the programme.

“We have our coaches that were recalled from Dongo Sawmills and we are hoping that we would deploy them in various schools,” he added. Buffaloes secretary general Arnold Gatsi said that they are behind Chunga on this initiative.

“This is a good project and we are going to support him. We have three coaches who are currently gaining experience with him at Buffaloes and they would be deployed to various schools to tap talent and the players will then be tested at the senior team and the programme is targeting Under 10 to Under 20 age groups,” he said.
