Magaya is said to have said this at his Friday evening church service attended by the Mighty Warriors. Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela confirmed the initiative by Prophet Magaya before challenging other football stakeholders to take a leaf from the PHD Ministries leader.

“During his service, Prophet Magaya pledged to donate money in the range of $28 000 to the Mighty Warriors which will go a long way in meeting their expenses. In addition, Magaya asked our chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze about the Valinhos debt which had seen Fifa descending on us heavily, expelling Zimbabwe from the upcoming World Cup qualifiers,” Gwesela said.

Mashingaidze is said to have told the man of God about the debt which has been haunting Zifa for some years now before Magaya also pledged to assist Zifa to clear the debt. An official close to the prophet also confirmed the developments.

“Yes, the man of God pledged to assist the football association in servicing the debt. He could not be drawn to say when and how he was going to pay the money but he gave Mashingaidze his word over the debt,” said the source.

Apart from the money, the Mighty Warriors, who seek to overturn a 2-1 deficit when they host top African side Ghana at Rufaro this afternoon, also got special prayers, anointing oil and other gifts from the PHD Ministries leader.
