The home team fans were silenced as early as the first minute when ZPC defender George Magariro scored an own goal under pressure from striker Walter Musona after 44 seconds.

FC Platinum pressurised the home team and the move paid off once again in the 16th minute when Musona doubled the scores for the visitors.

Sensing victory, Platinum continued taking the initiative and were rewarded again in the 41st minute when Raymond Sibanda sealed the final nail on ZPCs coffin from close range.

Although ZPC came back from the break a more determined force, the game was over as a contest. Even the introduction of young Norest Mkwezaramba for old horse Pride Tafirenyika in the 76th minute could not change the complexion of the game.

Platinum coach Norman Mapeza was full of praise for his players.

“That was a fantastic performance from my players. We came here looking for a positive result considering the long journey from Zvishavane” Mapeza said.

But ZPC coach Oliver Matava was a disappointed man.

“My boys did not play their usual game, probably because they were under pressure since it was a historic game for us. I hope things will work out for us in the next game” Matava said.

More than 2 000 spectators watched the match — the first ever match to be played at the new look Nyamhunga.
