The fillies and mares will go eyeball for eyeball in the listed Springvale House Sable flyers 1 300m sprint.

Drawn fifth, shouldering 57,5kg and partnered by the veteran jockey Andrew Fortune, the five-year-old Pegwell Bay has impressed in her single this new season. Although she hasn’t won anything on Zimbabwean soil, she is a sure thing in the feature races.

The former Justin Snaith- trained mare showed a lot of promise as a four-year-old, finishing second on her Borrowdale Park debut in March this year.

With five runners in the eight horse field, Bronkhorst has last year’s Sables Flyers winning jockey Randall Simons on the six-year old daughter of Windrush, Gentle Brook, who tasted the 2015 Castle Tankard starting thriller. She last set her hooves in the winner’s enclosure this June.

The top weight, Gentle Brook who ran second last year, has to dig deep into her bag of tricks to overcome her latest unimpressive form if she is to be involved in the finish. The yard’s other contenders are Flamingo Lilly, Supa Dupa, and Swinging On A Star.

Bridget Stidolph yard’s filly Print The Pounds, navigated by jockey Fanie Chambers, looks the banker on form. Punters would have to be very brave to oppose a filly who has given her all on the track. Three of her top- notch four successive triumphs were over a mile.

However, this daughter of AP Answer who will jump from barrier draw six, is no newcomer to the Borrowdale straight and could score gold on a good day.

“She is doing fine at work like she always does, I hope for a good race,” Stidolph said.

Coming off a winning last start in June, the well-drawn Tallie Two marches out for Alyson Wright stable; with a lot of confidence mirrored by the consistent positive form.

Speaking for the yard, Alistair Fisher said; “Tallie Two has come off the rest, so it’s a preparation run for other races, but I don’t see why she can’t compete. If you look at her two-year-old career, she ran some good races over 1 200m.”

Trainer Kirk Swanson has Iron Lady in stall gate three, with jockey Francios Herholdt in the irons. “They are giving Iron Lady a lot of weight and my best bet of the day is Gotago in race seven. We hope to win even though it’s a very competitive field.”

It’s By Jingo, who entered the season with fitness drawbacks, who seems to be on track for a second follow-up victory when he teams up with 2015 Castle Tankard winning jockey Quinton Riddle in the day’s third race.

“It’s By Jingo will be there and we are hoping Zita also runs a big race and with the two-year- olds, Almighty Hood can have a better run,” added Fisher.

The last and seventh offering on the card will go down to the wire with a highly competitive field as Chestnut Girl gallops for a hat-trick win over 1 200m.

Gokhan Terzi’s Principled Man is a definite inclusion in the places.

“He travelled well and he is looking good. I’m expecting a big run from him on Sunday,” said Terzi.
