The GameCocks extended their advantage over the Harare giants to seven points.

The log leaders bounced back from a goal down to beat How Mine 2-1 at Barbourfields while second placed FC Platinum walloped a hapless WhaWha 3-0 at Mandava as the race for the title hots up.

Chicken Inn now have 52 points with FC Platinum on 48 points compared to Dembare’s 45.

Tonderai Ndiraya’s men can no longer afford any slip-ups if they are to remain in contention for an unprecedented five consecutive league titles with only five matches to play.

The odds are slightly tilted in favour of Dynamos to get a crucial win after they managed a priceless 1-0 victory away to Chicken Inn in the previous round of matches.

The Sunshine City boys have enjoyed a purple patch in cup games recently, but their league form has left a lot to be desired. Taurai Mangwiro, currently on sixth position, will be fancying a top four finish.

Dynamos go into today’s Harare derby without key man Stephen Alimenda who is serving a suspension.

Meanwhile, in another standout clash lined up for today, Highlanders will know they cannot afford anymore slip-ups when they host basement side Dongo Sawmills at Barbourfields.

A ZPC Kariba win on Saturday saw Highlanders sadly slump into an unfamiliar 11th position on the log — just two places above relegation zone.

Bosso have lost five out of their last seven matches and another defeat will throw the Bulawayo giants into a late season crisis. A win for bottom team Dongo can lift them above Flame Lily and WhaWha in the relation zone. Fourth placed Triangle clash with Flame Lily at Gibbo Stadium with both teams in desperate need of three points for different reasons altogether. The hosts Triangle currently in fourth position have gone for six consecutive games without a win. Flame Lily, lying second from bottom on the log, needs to start picking maximum points.
