One of the grass-thatched gazebos at the joint, with a bar and could accommodate 100 people, was razed to the ground, destroying stocks of beverages and refrigerators.

Pamuzinda owner Josh Hozheri said it was not yet clear what caused the fire.

He said it was suspected that the fire started when one of the security guards took fire into the gazebo.

“I valued the stock and the property destroyed at $20 000, although the figures are being worked out,” he said.

“This was our main bar and many musicians have performed at the place.

“I received a call from one of the workers that there was fire at Pamuzinda and when the Fire Brigade came, there was nothing we could do as we thought of saving lives.”

He said repairs would commence as soon as possible and promised that all shows earmarked for February would go ahead.

Pamuzinda has a capacity to accommodate up to 3 000 revellers.
