Defender Tawanda Munyanduri overcame an otherwise subdued first half to hit a cracking winner which made sure the hosts paid for a rather uncharacteristically mediocre display in the first half.

ZPC Kariba coach Sunday Chidzambwa’s half time team talk seemed to have the desired effect as his charges came back from the break a rejuvenated side.

They did not waste time and were to soon take the lead through a 47th minute stunner from Munyanduri.

A good move involving Tineyi Chitora ended with Limited Chikafa’s effort parried by Tsholotsho goalkeeper Chang Mariyoni towards Munyanduri, who unleashed a cracker just outside the box into the far left corner of the net. Despite the positive result, which took his team to the top of the league, Chidzambwa said he will not put pressure on his players to win the league.

“We are taking each game as it comes and we will not be under any pressure to win the league,” he said.

Tsholotsho coach Lizwe Sweswe said they played well, but lost concentration when it mattered most.

“We played very well. Unfortunately we conceded a goal early in the second half and we never recovered. ZPC is playing well, you can see how they are playing,” Sweswe said.
