MUTARE City Rovers’ revenge mission failed after they were held to a drab goalless draw against Chapungu in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.

Rovers lost 2-0 against the army side in reverse fixture at Ascot Stadium recently and yesterday they came into the match needing nothing short of maximum points to ease their relegation woes.

Despite the draw, Rovers gaffer Taku Shariwa said he was still optimistic that his side will avoid the dreaded chop.

“The youngsters are not used to playing many matches in a few days. We have been losing at home and collecting a point is a positive result and we are confident of avoiding relegation,” he said.

His counterpart Nyikadzino said he was happy after his side collected four points against the same opponent.

“We came into the match needing maximum points, but we are happy with the point. We collected four points from them and it’s not bad at all, and l am happy with the altitude of my players,” he said.
