Harare entrepreneur Tompson Dube Matambo has established a health television channel for local health institutions.

The channel called Health TV has programmes that keeps viewers engaged with up to date health information that include exercise routines, healthy recipes and tips and how to manage common conditions, among other health issues.
Medical centres like Baines Clinic, Panacae24, Avenues Clinic, Parkview Dental Surgery, Harare Oncology Centre and The Dental Practice, among others, are already showing the channel.
“The Ministry of Health and Child Care has approved the Health TV channel to be aired in clinics, medical centres and nursing homes nationwide,” said Dube-Matambo, who is the founder and managing director of Health TV.
Dube-Matambo said the channel started airing in August 2016 with the aim of disseminating health information, targeting health institutions.
“We came up with the idea after we realised that many people were suffering due to lack of health information, especially on disease prevention and management. Our channel is an on-site playback television channel that is only found in selected hospitals, medical centres and pharmacies,” he said.

Matambo said they interview medical expert who share ideas on areas that include HIV and Aids, cancer and TB, among other diseases.
“We do interviews with medical doctors discussing certain medical issues affecting communities. We also provide information on health and fitness, diet and hygiene, among others,” he said.
“It is our mission to provide high quality programmes and broadcasting dedicated to those interested in health matters across the nation.”
He said the channel was being viewed at 50 health centres across the country with the hope of reaching 150 centres by end of year.
