THE Zimbabwe Council for Tourism Congress will take place in Harare on January 26 and 27, bringing together tourism operators and other industry players to discuss the state of tourism and to look at ways and means of bringing about growth and development in the sector during 2
005. ZCT represents operators in all areas of tourism and related business, and works with partners such as the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism to create an enabling environment.
The 2004 Congress was postponed from November into January and the event will now take place over two days at Harare's Meikles Hotel. On Wednesday January 26 the Congress meeting sessions will be held, followed by the annual ZCT Awards Dinner. The following day will see the introduction of a new concept: an information exchange in which business and other organisations can host one-on-one discussions with tourism operators and other individuals in a mini-trade show format.
Speakers invited to present papers on the first day include the Ministers of Environment and Tourism, Francis Nhema, and Transport and Communications, Chris Mushowe, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Dr Gideon Gono, the ZCT president, Shingi Munyeza, and the chief executives of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, Air Zimbabwe, Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe and the National Parks and Wildlife Authority.
Reports are also expected from chairmen or sectoral associations making up the ZCT structure, as well as from chairmen of ZCT regional committees.
