New blood needed in sports administration PDF Print E-mail

TALENT in every aspect of life has to be complemented by a series of good character management and administration. The various sporting disciplines in Zimbabwe are well represented in terms of talent although no proper management courses have been taken by the people who occupy offices of importance in sport.
In cricket, for example, none of the administrators took a course on sport administration before they were in their various offices. This is the very same situation in soccer, rugby, swimming and hockey where people feel they deserve to occupy offices because they pioneered a sport or a team and maybe because they feel they are affluent.
A terrible phase has come and if not addressed it is bound to continue.
Giving those offices to young blood that is still fresh might be the needed factor to pluck Zimbabwean sport from its demise. The likes of Peter and Paul Chingoka, Henrietta Rushwaya, Wellington Nyatanga, Custom Kachambwa and Tendai Zhakata have all had their day and a complete overhaul might be a saving scenario.
Although the general argument will be on experience it has to be said that these guys are experienced failures.
New blood is definitely needed to save sport in this country so there won’t be mediocre appointments at Zimbabwe Cricket, no board fighting at the Zimbabwe Football Association and no divisions in the Harare Basketball League.
