Zimra taxes extortionate PDF Print E-mail

HAVE Zimbabweans ever noticed how Zimra just imposes taxing structures without due regard to the likely effect on  citizens. Recently, the authority introduced a draconian law demanding that importers should pay 2% surtax charge on a daily basis from the date  of assessment plus they started taking vehicles into storage for a charge of US$10 per day without notification to the public.
We are the only country in the world that pays 100% duty. It seems this system is designed to confiscate our vehicles. The system is nothing short of extortion and moreover, who is responsible for the security of our vehicles at the border. Our vehicles are not even safe.
It is time for us as citizens to take a stand against this daylight robbery and let our voices be heard.
I also believe Parliament should have a say in determining the taxation structures by Zimra so that there is some level of protection for the public from this statutory monstrosity.

Disgruntled Citizen.
Harare.
