You said it in a different way , E Zitha. Without reliable electricity supply, those who want to take over 51% shareholding of manufacturing industry are just setting themselves up for failure. They are not at all different from the new farmers who went into it and now cannot get vital inputs like fertilisers and pesticides. The government needs to sort out ZESA where they have 100% control before venturing into manufacturing industry.

The biggest problem is not only with Zesa but the rest of industry, the people at the helm of these institutions have the qualifications but no experience at all. This is fact. Possesing a university degree is one thing. All of these institutions both private and public, were run very successfully by people who never went to university. They were largely tradesmen, city and guilds trained, CIS trained, very practical, very experienced, I will cite examples, CAPCO, ESC, CSC, Railways, ARDA, PTC, Ministry of Roads, Ministry of Construction, RISCO, Union Carbide, Rhodesia Alloys. Crasters, Lever Brothers, National Foods. There were no Doctor so and so, PHD's, MBA's, Professor so and so, Master of Science. These so called over qualified people are a real nuisance. All they want are prados, severance packages, toyota fortunas but no production. How interesting that a lot of the professors are real trouble makers. They thing everyone around them is a fool.

I thought the editor was not happy with my comment but I will repeat it (to clear my doubts) here. Zesa are just a p**n in the bigger picture guys. The government knew (or was advised) m*re that 20years ago that the country would by 2008 face a shortage of electricity and they needed to start new energy genrating projects. The Sengwa coal deposits where discovered and an international company went into negotiations with the government to build a power station. This was turned down for reasons we may never know. It's proving that the reasoning then was poor to say the least because not alternative was being worked out. Zesa despite being inefficient do not have the energy to supply to the rest of the country. This was made worse by the Gono era where they could not raise foreign currency to import energy and they accrued huge debts. Thus we are all liable for the wrong decisions made by our educated political leaders. I rest my case.

Reading through Black, Intelligent but Lazy's commend, the reason for all these problems is clear. Do you know what i simply did? I told Netone to go to hell. I walked into an Econet shop, bought a new line for $5, complete with air time of $1.50!!!!!
