CAPS United ….....................(1) 2
Monomotapa……..................(1) 3

LLYOD Chitembwe threatened to quit his job after he was heckled by CAPS United supporters yesterday.

The Makepekepe supporters, incensed by the defeat to Monomotapa in a premiership match at Rufaro, waylaid the team bus outside the venue and hurled abuse at the coach.

Chitembwe tried to be diplomatic and disembarked from his silver Mercedes Benz with the personalised number plates “GUTSA 6” to confront the group of about 500 fans.

The supporters quickly gathered around the Green Machine gaffer while the police did their best to maintain order.

“When you lose players you cannot blame anyone. We had to sell those players because the club also needed the money,” Chitembwe said.

CAPS United lost Method Mwanjali, Nyasha Mushekwi, Lionel Mtizwa, Tafadzwa Rusike, Oscar Machapa and Khama Billiat to South African clubs.

“Manchester United sold Cristiano Ronaldo last season and they ended up losing the premiership title. Did anyone blame the club for losing the title because they had sold Ronaldo?” the Makepekepe coach asked the fans.

However the temperature soured and what started as a good discussion almost turned nasty after some fans started hauling obscenities at Chitembwe.

It is at this moment that the Makepekepe coach lost his temper.
“Ndaakuzoisiya team yacho, ini ndazvitadza (I am now leaving this team I cannot take it anymore),” he said.

Sensing danger, police officers escorted the CAPS United coach back into his car and dispersed the crowd.

The day had however started brightly for Chitembwe when new signing Joel Lupahla set-up Malvern Samaneka for the opening goal just after two minutes.

But it was CAPS United’s sloppy defending coupled by some bad goalkeeping from Edmore Sibanda that allowed the former champions to walk away with all the three points.

Daniel “Magrizi” Kamunenga first equalised for Monomotapa when he ran after a Tendai Samanja pass into the box and curled the ball beyond Sibanda.

Frank Adu restored Makepekepe’s lead in the 67th minute when he tapped in Last Chibwiro’s effort inside the box.

Then it was time for the Warriors goalkeeper Sibanda to produce two howlers. With 74 minutes played, Monomotapa defender Ocean Mushure pushed forward and fired a low shot at goal.

Sibanda somehow failed to parry the shot for a corner and allowed the ball to go past him.
Second half substitute Joseph Mutambiranwa was at hand to tap the ball into an empty net to level the scores.

With four minutes to go Charles Chiutsa released a neat pass to another second halfsubstitute Osborn Mukuradare on the left flank.

Makepekepe defender Blessing Mazorodze was applying enough pressure on the striker, but Sibanda unnecessarily rushed off his line.

Mukuradare then cleverly chipped over the outdrawn Sibanda to score the winning goal for Monomotapa.
