ORGANISERS of the KwaNtuthu Comedy Festival have set October 25-28 as the dates for the second edition of fiesta.

Running under the theme — It’s On, the festival has added film as part of the categories.

The four day fete will see  October  25  set for Theatre Day, October 26 — Stand-Up Comedy, October 27 — Film Screenings and October 29 being the Roast of Africa.

Acting Festival director, Hubert Dumisani Ndlovu popularly known as Maforty confirmed the developments to Standard Style yesterday.

“This year’s edition will run under the theme — It’s On and it speaks of the lessons we learnt organising our first edition. This time we are saying game on, we are going to be on the Bulawayo Arts Events Calendar for this year and many more years to come,” he said.

“Provisionally the programme has been set up and the  fourth day is a result of adding film category to the Festival in line with the Festival’s vision and mission.”

Ndlovu said they have made a call for participation and this is open to Individuals, production houses or organisations to take part with products or content that will fit in with their theme and programme.

“Interested parties can be from any country across the world as the Festival seeks to be a tourist attraction. We also hope through the exchange programme to bring in comedians and productions from Sadc countries," he said.

“We are looking forward to having the involvement of High Schools as we had Dominican Convent High School Drama Club perform on Theatre Day last  year  as part of the Festival’s objectives of ushering in new talent into the entertainment industry.

“The board would like to emphasize  the productions or artworks that will be considered are strictly of a comedy nature and interested parties should send clear, audible videos. This year’s selection panel will be lead by the festival curator who will be overseeing the creative aspect of the Festival.”

In addition MaForty said “We are also working on partnerships with corporates and small businesses to make this edition a success. We hope that this year we gather big audiences and be able to deliver a well organised festival with entertaining acts.”
