THE Zimbabwe Amateur Golf Association hopes that the Zimbabwe amateur team to play in the Zone Six Amateur Championship in Sun City, South Africa, next week, scoop the tournament ahead of consta

nt winners South Africa.

The association’s president, Neville Henley, said this week that the team was fully prepared to wrest the championship from the hosts.

“South Africa have always been strong. They have a large pool of amateurs to choose from. But we are going to have to go there positive that we will beat them this time. Everyone is confident that we will win the championship,” said Henley.

The team, captained by Ryan Lang, the country’s number one amateur, consists of Pascal Lorimer, Will Lake, Julius Kalimazeni, Anyway Watch, Robson Saurombe, Farai Chitengwa, and Miros Katembenuka.

Four of the players were chosen on the order of merit, with a panel of selectors led by team manager Roger Baylis choosing the other four on “selection choice” format.
