THE triathlon season is now in full swing, with the first of the popular Arundel Spar-Kingfisher mini-series held last week at St Johns College in Harare.

About 200 triathletes began the event with Dave Martin and Linda Rousseau emerging the winners in the male and female categories respectively.

Hellenics School will be the venue for the next leg of the Arundel Spar-Kingfisher series.

Meanwhile, top Zimbabwe male triathlete Rory Mackie, who missed the Athens Olympic Games due to injury, has now fully recovered and is training and racing in Australia.

The former world junior champion will be back in the country next year to compete in local and South African tournaments.

However, female junior champion Ashleigh Finnaughty is unlikely to start at a full triathlon event in Chipinge this Sunday due to an injury.

Another top female player, Pamela Chalmers-Fulton, has returned to racing on a key note. Chalmers-Fulton used all her experience to finish second to Rousseau in the Arundel competition last week.
