A convincing 4-1 massacre of Zimdazzlers with skillful striker Daniel Bhasikoro grabbing a brace last week propelled Standardind into the last eight.

Champions Copy World who are favourites to win the cup will take on DStv tomorrow in a potentially-explosive pairing of the quarter-finals.

However, Standardind are tipped to sail through to the semi-finals against surprise quarter-finalists, Econet.

Augustine Mukaro, Standardind chairman this week sounded confident of his team’s chances to win the cup.

“We are raring to go all the way to lifting the cup,” said Mukaro. “We have developed into a formidable side, having started the season on an unconvincing note because we were still putting the team together.”

Robson Ndlovu, the treasurer of the Communications League said the league cup had generated a lot of interest and would be improved next year.

“The competition has been very exciting and looks set to go all the way to the final in a thrilling mood,” said Ndlovu. “We will source more sponsorship next year to improve the cup.”

Winners of the cup will walk away with a trophy and prize money.
