Cool Crooners release new album

BULAWAYO-based township jazz group Cool Crooners have released their second new album — Isitalo — together with Prudence Katomeni as a guest artist.

The twelve-track album was recently launched  in  France. The group returned last month from touring t

he Carribean  where the album was launched. In an interview with IndependentXtra,  group spokesman Abel Sithole said:

“This is the hottest album that our group has ever produced since its formation in the 1950s and I can tell our fans will love the jazz flavour in it,” he said.

Sithole said the album is also dedicated to the late group member Solomon Gumbo. “Isitalo is dedicated to our travelling companion Solomon Gumbo, one of our group founder members who departed to make music in heaven a few months ago.

“This album also carries tracks that refer to the damage caused by locusts that destroy crops during planting season, and it also denotes the fatality of violence,” he said.

He also said although the album is not yet available in Zimbabwe because it was released in France his fans should not lose heart as it will be available in the country soon.

The  Cool  Crooners hit   the  local charts with their song and video Ibhulugwa lami lilezigamba from their first album Blue Sky which was released in 2000. Katomeni is also a jazz musician and leads Harare-based
jazz outfit Jazz Invitation. — Staff Writer.
