Katung wins Big Brother Nigeria

LAST Sunday 26-year-old production assistant Katung won M-Net’s first ever all-Nigerian reality show Big Brother Nigeria, after beating his 13 fellow Big Brother Nigeria housemates to win the grand prize of US$100 000.

The unprecedented series, which set records in t

he Nigerian television industry for being the first homegrown reality programme to be screened 24-hours daily to a continental audience on DStv, ended after a remarkable 91 days on air.

Amidst widespread celebration outside the show’s Lagos location, Katung was finally reunited with the world outside the walls of the Big Brother Nigeria house.

The dramatic Big Brother Nigeria finale began with fanfare as the four remaining housemates Francisca, Ify, Katung and Sandy waited to hear their fate! For Sandy, the news was not good and when the first of the night’s three eliminations were announced, she headed out of the show.

Her departure was followed by the departure of Ify, who also found out first-hand just how it feels to make it right to final day of Big Brother and not win the big prize.

With two housemates remaining in the running (Francisca and Katung), the tension in the atmosphere couldn’t be denied as the crowd outside the house, and no doubt viewers across the continent, waited anxiously for the final result. — Own Correspondent.
