THOMAS Mapfumo’s sarcastic, unwarranted, nasty comments about Oliver Mtukudzi are nothing but jealousy. Mapfumo is a publicity-seeking, confused individual who capitalises on blowing out of propo
rtion Zimbabwe’s woes to gain cheap financial gain and political mileage.
Asserting that Mtukudzi is unpatriotic and timid is nothing but a deliberate attack on a music rival enjoying every moment of his career. Tuku is by far a better artiste than the fading Chimurenga king.
Mapfumo’s big mouth saw him going into self-imposed exile. That he is no longer safe in Zimbabwe is just a lie.
Mtukudzi struck a rich vein and has been consistent in his work. He is truly a Zimbabwean music ambassador and a social commentator who uses the medium of song to advise and teach society. His prowess has been felt the world over.
Mukanya must stop all the nonsense, come back home and re-assert himself as a true Chimurenga king. By staying in America, his career will continue to sink.
Please gandanga, leave Tuku alone. Our Tuku is an artiste par excellence. His awards at regional competitions bear testimony to his musical power.
