You are what you eat . . .

WITH the festive season over, it’s time to put down that chocolate éclair and pick up those pumpkin seeds because straight-talking holistic nutritionist Gillian McKeith is back on DStv with a brand new series of You Are What You Eat every Monday at 4

pm on BBC Food.

Gillian has once again scoured the country to find more of Britain’s worst eaters to sample a taste of her now notorious tough love approach to diet and nutrition.

Some are in for a bigger shock than usual when the diminutive McKeith walks into their lives, as for the first time ever she takes on case studies who have been secretly nominated by friends or family hoping to enlist her help to get their loved ones to dump the junk.

Also on BBC Food this month, DStv audiences can join cookery writer Nigel Slater, one of the UK’s best loved food writers, as he explores the lives of celebrity guests through their personal food memories and recipes in A Taste Of My Life.

Showing every on Tuesday at 6.30pm, among others, Janet Street-Porter recollects some of her best and worst foods; actress Vanessa Redgrave reminisces over the food of her youth and Max Beesley reveals how the loss of his mother led to his decision to take on a gritty role in the medical drama, Bodies.

Also on the programme, actor Richard E Grant talks about the three tenets of colonial life in Swaziland. Author Kathy Lette quite literally serves herself up on a plate for Grant, while comedienne Meera Syal challenges Richard and Nigel to rustle up a vegetable biryani.
