PSL chairman Twine Phiri revealed that the league would most probably unveil its sponsor on February 25, or earlier.
Although the league has tried to keep the sponsor’s name a secret, sources within the PSL told Standardsport that Delta Beverages have agreed to come back into football and will bankroll the top flight league programme this year.
The sources even revealed the sponsorship package, which, at this moment, Standardsport is not at liberty to disclose.
The coming in of Delta, if that indeed happens, does not come as a surprise as the company has a long association with Zimbabwean football.
As National Breweries, they sponsored the PSL in the 90s and through their Castle brand also bankrolled the annual Soccer Star of the Year awards.
They also sponsored the country’s major knockout tournament — the Castle Cup for a whopping 34 years from 1962 to 1996.
Widely regarded as football’s own baby, the Castle Cup has now been lost to the sport of golf.

The issue of the PSL sponsorship has become the hush-hush talk of the football fraternity with a number of companies such as NetOne, BancABC and Econet all linked to sponsoring the top flight league.
But on February 25, or before, the guessing game will come to an end. The latest developments have come at a time when a number of clubs had hinted they would not participate in the premiership this year if a sponsor was not found.
