Learning golf with Mabikacheche: How to hold a ‘golf stick’ /golf club

Business
It is extremely important that beginners in learning golf pay special attention to the grip (how the golf stick / club is held) for them to get the maximum enjoyment of this game. I hereby emphasise that there is no need to hurry to the next stage before the fundamentals of the grip are mastered.

There are three types of grips or holding the golf stick /club as demonstrated below namely; (a) overlapping grip/vardon grip, (b) interlocking grip, and (c) baseball grip /10 finger grip.

Overlapping Grip(a)    Overlapping grip/vardon grip — for this type of grip, your little index finger of your right hand should overlap the index finger of your left hand as shown in picture 1. Only seven fingers and two thumbs are in contact with the club (gripping the club). The little index finger of your right hand just rests in the groove between your index finger and the second finger of your left hand.

b) Interlocking grip — in this grip, the little finger of your right hand interlocks with the index finger of your left hand as shown in picture 2. Only six fingers and the two thumbs (four from each hand) are in contact with the club / grip.
