Chunga under fire at Rufaro

BY ALBERT MARUFU Motor Action...(1) 2CAPS United...0 CAPS United coach Moses Chunga’s love and hate relationship with the team’s fans continued as Motor Action charged past his side in a Castle Lager premiership match at Rufaro Saturday.

Gift Phiri’s fourth minute strike and Kuda Musharu’s  effort 13 minutes from full time ensured that the Mighty Bulls continued their dominance over their arch rivals. The Green Machine lost their two matches last season including the 4-2 title decider at the National Sports Stadium, which saw fans thinking that the match had been fixed. The loss saw CAPS United surrendering their pole position to Chicken Inn and they now sit on position three. However, yesterday the Mighty Bulls were by far the more dominant side bossing the midfield where CAPS united clearly missed the services of the out of favour hardman Steven Alimenda. The loss did not go down well with the CAPS United fans who, soon after the second goal, started waving at Chunga insinuating that he should resign from the job. After the match, the fans camped at the main gate waiting to inflict instant justice on their coach whom they blamed for the loss.CAPS United fans were chanting “Chunga anopenga……….Chunga anopenga.  Ndewe DeMbare” (Chunga is mad. He is a Dynamos man) and they even mobbed the CAPS United chairman Twine Phiri when he tried to address them. However, Chunga remained hopeful that the good times would roll again for his side.“Yes we have lost the match, but this is not the end of the world. I am not happy with the behaviour of CAPS United fans. They should learn how to behave,” Chunga said. His opposite number Joey “Mafero Mafero” Antipas was full of praise for his charges and said they could have scored more had they taken their chances.“We played very well and I am happy with the team’s performance. The midfield was excellent and the defence did well to shut out Evans Gwekwerere and Simba Sithole,” he said. This was just the day when everything went wrong for CAPS United as they put a token of resistance to the marauding Motor Action side.Bossing the middle of the park, The Mighty Bulls started the match on a high note and it came as no surprise when they got the lead with just four minutes on the clock.Musharu got the better of the out of sorts Arnold Chivheya before bringing in a cross that found the unmarked Phiri who put the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda.Barely two minutes later, Motor Action’s Enasio Perezo skied his effort over the bar from close range after being set up by the exciting Edmore Chitato. The Mighty Bulls continued with their dominance in the match and not even the 46th minute double substitution of Joel Luphahla and Norest Mukwezaremba for Steven Matsangaise and Charles Chiutsa could bring any change. With the CAPS United midfield virtually anonymous, it was left to their defence of Douglas Walaza, Arnold Chivheya, Edmore Chafungamoyo and Nyasha Mukumbi  to thwart the barrage of Motor Action raids. They, however had to work harder as pressure from Perezo, Edward Tembo, Gift Phiri and Musharu was just too much.Their defence was to be broken in the 77th minute when Allan Gahadzikwa’s long pass from the middle of the park found an unmarked Musharu who beat Sibanda from an acute angle. The CAPS United goalkeeper might have been anticipating a cross, but Musharu had other ideas. The goal sealed CAPS United’s coffin and their fans started trooping outside of the stadium with a few, but noisy of them waiting for Chunga and the main gate.
