BY KHULANI NKABINDETALENTED hip-hop dance group, High Definition got a standing ovation at the Amakhosi Elite 400 on Thursday night after a top-drawer act of well choreographed dances.

The three member dance group was so punctual and came on stage just at the time that it was expected.

They jumped onto the stage to the accompaniment of loud and exciting hip-hop music.

In the background, a slide show of pictures was running on a large screen complementing the spectacular dance show.

High Definition fused fast and slow dances, sometimes freezing in the act, drawing applause from the crowd.

The lighting system was excellent as some dances were done under dim lights while a bright purple colour would fill the stage in some instances in synchrony with the dances.

When High Definition took a break, the MC asked members of the audience to volunteer to entertain the audience.

One white man got onto the stage and wowed the audience with some acrobatic dances.

Another dancer drawn from the audience, a young black man, also exhibited amazing talent, a polished act and the show became an interesting interaction between the group and its audience.

The group has been outstanding in several shows across the country and their style is unique.

While dance groups have become synonymous with genres like sungura and rhumba, High Definition exhibits the beauty of contemporary dances that would match international standards.

The group’s spokesperson said they were looking forward to spreading their wings across borders and start embarking on international tours.
