Zvishavane explodes!

Sport
By Brian Nkiwane   The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League race heads for a photo-finish with premiership debutants FC Platinum enjoying a cool breeze on the summit of the 16-member log table.

But three more clubs, DeMbare, Motor Action, and Hwange FC are still within spitting distance and feel that the championship is still a four-men race.

The main attraction will be in Zvishavane where log leaders FC Platinum take on Chinda Boys, Shabanie Mine, in a match in which juju is said to have taken a toll ahead of the derby.

A number of  mysterious things are said to have been happening since last Tuesday in Zvishavane ahead of the derby.

The log leaders suffered a double whammy as they will be missing four of their first team players due to suspensions.

The Platinum miners, who are on 49 points from 26 outings, will be without skipper Zephaniah Ngodzo, number one shot stopper Tafadzwa Dube, hard man Norman Togara and midfield magician Charles Sibanda.

On the other hand Luke Masomere’s men will be looking forward to this match for them to drift away from relegation zone as they are on fourth position from bottom at 28 points from 26 outings.

From Zvishavane, attention will drift to Hwange where second-placed Harare giants Dynamos will be having a tough task to beat  Hwange at the Colliery to maintain pressure on log leaders FC Platinum. Again, DeMbare have been dealt a big blow as they will be missing the services of their smiling assassin Rodrick Mutuma through suspension. Mutuma has been in top form scoring in each of DeMbare’s outings since Pasuwa took over.

DeMbare are on second position at 48 points, one point shy of the log leaders but with the same number of matches played.

Hwange at 43 points still believe that they can turn the tables and snatch the championship from FC Platinum’s jaws.

Third-placed Mighty Bulls will be hoping to regroup and find a winning formula when they meet Shooting Stars who are also fighting relegation. At 44 points, Bulls still have hopes of defending the championship.

Rejuvenated Gunners will be travelling to the City of Kings for a date with fading giants Highlanders who continue to tumble down the ladder with each outing.

Tail-enders, Zimbabwe Saints will travel to Masvingo for a date against Yuna Yuna.

In Harare derbies, CAPS United will welcome Blue Ribbon at the giant National Sports Stadium while Monomotapa face Kiglon.

In Bulawayo Chicken Inn make a date with Black Mambas at Luveve to complete the league action for week 27.
