BY FANUEL VIRIRIEVANS Gwekwerere and Norman Maroto have attracted the interest of some top Egypt clubs and are set to fly out of the country this week for trials.

The CAPS hotshot, Gwekwerere, has been on the radar of several Egyptian clubs who want to have a look at him. Maroto, the 2010 Golden Boot award winner, is also being chased by some clubs in the same country.

Gwekwerere has been itching to play outside the country after having stints at South Africa’s Jomo Cosmos and Moroka Swallows.David Huni, the manager of the players told Standardsport last night that the two players are set to leave for trials in Egypt this week.

They will undergo trials for two weeks. Egyptian clubs are reported to be paying between US$70 000 and US$150 000 per year, which is a far cry from what the players are getting in the domestic premiership.

“The players will undergo trials at several clubs in Egypt which have expressed interest in them. We are very excited for them and we hope they will make the grade. This is a stepping stone, as they move towards leagues in Europe,” Huni said.
