Chaos looms at DeMbare

BY ALBERT MARUFUSANITY is still to prevail at Dynamos as some of the team’s key players registered for the 2012 CAF Champions League, including Soccer Star of the Year Washington Arubi’s contracts expired yesterday.

The club reached common ground with want-out head coach Callisto Pasuwa on Friday as he signed a three-year contract after a protracted wrangle. The deal was a success after the intervention of Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Union president  Moses Chunga.

Upon agreeing to terms of his contract, Pasuwa immediately declared that preparations for the CAF Champions League start on January 9, but is likely to face problems as most of the players still have contractual problems.

Standardsport is reliably informed that Arubi and Murape Murape reverted to being Highfield United players following the expiry of their contracts yesterday.

Ageless Dynamos midfielder Murape confirmed that his contract needed to be renewed as he had reverted to being a Highfield United player following its expiry yesterday.

“I signed a three-year contract with Highfield United and a one-year contract with Dynamos. The contract with Dynamos expires today (yesterday) so it means that I have to sit down with the club.

“I still want to play for the club after deciding not to retire this season. Other players whose contracts are still to be renewed include the DC Academy duo of midfielders Denver Mukamba and Devon Chafa.

Hardman George Magariro’s contract also expired yesterday while Roderick Mutuma’s three-year contract signed at the beginning of the 2011 soccer season is subject to renewal after every season.

It is however still to be renewed for this year.

However, Dynamos secretary-general Nyika Chifamba denied the expired contracts were an issue saying the club has managed to retain all the players they want for the 2012 season.

“All the players that we needed to retain had their contracts renewed. If any player did not have his contract negotiated, then that means he is not in our plans,” he said.

But a number of players registered by DeMbare for the Champions League were adamant their contracts had not been renewed.
