Advertising company strikes partnership deal

FOUNDER and chairman of a leading advertising agency, Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa), Graham Warsop, says the international view of Zimbabwe is that of a country on the economic rise and worth investing in.

Warsop said this during an announcement of the newly-formed partnership between the South African-based company and local company, Jericho Advertising, to form Jupiter Drawing Room Zimbabwe.

Jericho is wholly-owned by Zimbabweans, while The Jupiter Drawing Room Zimbabwe is 70% owned by Zimbabweans. “We are always open to new opportunities and markets and we believe in the power of creativity to transform brands. It’s an exciting time to be looking at expanding into Africa. There is a huge gap in the market because few agencies believe in creativity,” said Warsop.

Warsop said that the new deal would leverage on the strategic partnership with WPP, one of the world’s largest marketing companies, which has a 49% stake in The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) acquired in 2009.

This arrangement would help the company gain access to what WPP offers as a global marketing company and give them support in rolling out their brand across the southern and East African regions.

This will only be the third Jupiter Drawing Room agency office and the first to open its doors outside South Africa. The agency is an independent advertising group, with offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, established in South Africa in 1989. It is the only agency from Africa to have been ranked by United States trade publication Advertising Age as one of the top five most creative agencies in the world.
