The scandal has so far claimed the scalps of more than 80 players, football administrators, coaches and match officials who are accused of taking part in match-fixing between 2007 and 2009 in the Far East.
The suspended players, coaches and administrators will have to be cleared by the Ethics Committee chaired by retired judge Ahmed Ebrahim. The investigations are expected to be complete by May 31.
Zifa communications manager Nick Dhlamini-Moyo confirmed that Mapeza had indeed written a letter to Zifa though she could not disclose its contents.
Reached for comment, Mapeza said he sought an explanation from Zifa on the status of his contract.
“It is true that I have written to Zifa seeking redress over my future as Warriors coach. I was also reminding them of my outstanding salary,” said Mapeza.
“I need to know my fate as I have a three-year running contract which means I cannot be contracted to any other club.”
Mapeza feels neglected by Zifa and is also unhappy with the way the whole issue was handled as he first got to know of his fate through the press.
“When I signed the three-year contract things were fine. Now that I am suspended, no one is willing to talk to me. I only learnt about the suspension from the press and got the suspension letter days later,” Mapeza said.

Mapeza added that the suspension letter was not clear on a number of issues that included the length of his suspension.
“When the suspension letter finally came, it was not clear whether I was going to get my salaries during the period under suspension.
“I do not have any problems with the appointment of Rahman Gumbo as the caretaker coach because we have played together and know each other,” he said.Mapeza told Standardsport on Friday that Zifa was yet to respond.
