Dynamos striker Takesure Chinyama struck twice as Dynamos seized advantage of their CAF Champions League first round tie against Liga Desportivo Muculmana De Maputo with an impressive two-all draw in the first leg in Maputo yesterday.

The second leg will be played in Harare in two weeks’ time. Dynamos by no means found it easy playing against a tactically astute team which knocks the ball around with impressive aplomb.

DeMbare survived a barrage of attacks both in the first and second half, but Chinyama made good use of the chances  that came his way to give Dynamos an advantage. DeMbare coach Calisto Pasuwa remained worried about his defence but declared that his team was on their way to the second round.

The first half saw Muculmana pouring forward in numbers in search of the opener and on one such occasion Dynamos took advantage when Denver Mukamba ferried the ball from his own half into enemy zone and released Chinyama who rounded off keeper Manuel De Oliveira to slot into an empty net.

Moments later Dynamos, with their spirits stirred by the goal, almost doubled the lead when Chinyama squared one for Mukamba whose shot was saved by Oliveira.

The home side kept probing and were duly rewarded in added time of the first half when Manuel Mbalango met a cross from the right which he headed towards goal only for Augustine Mbara to clear off the line.

But his clearance fell on the path of Stelion Enesio who had a simple task to convert unmarked. The home side made clear their intentions at the beginning of the second half advancing forward to leave three defenders at the back.

They were made to pay for such ambitious moves when Devon Chafa dispossessed Luiz Vaz for the ball to fall loosely in Chinyama’s path for the striker to surprise many with a first time volley where most expected him to pass.

After applying pressure sustained for at least three minutes where they won four corners, the hosts were to find the sought equaliser when Manuel Mbalango’s precise header found the back of the net after a well-delivered cross from Arlindo Cumaio on 73 minutes.
