Hillside Teachers College to defend Zitcosa title

By Our StaffZIMBABWE Teachers Colleges Sports Associations (Zitcosa) champions, Hillside Teachers College, will be hoping to defend their title at this year’s college games scheduled for March 29 to April 1 at the National Sports Stadium.

The games, which will see the winners in different sporting disciplines representing the teachers colleges at the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union (ZTISU)championships to be held in mid May.

The president of the Zitcosa, Edward Chekure told Standardsport that they were ready for the games that would see 13 colleges — Bondolfi, Mutare, Mary Mount, Mogenster, Masvingo, Hillside, United Bulawayo College, Mkoba, Nyadire, Belvedere, Seke, Morgan Zintec and Madziwa battling for honours.

“It is our hope that this year’s edition of the games will be more organised because the organisers went through a sports administration course recently. From this event we will pick the teams to represent us at the ZTISU games to be held in Mutare sometime this year,” he said.

Chekure also urged different sports associations to attend the event to tap into the talent that is found in the colleges.“Sports associations should come and identify talent that is very much abundant in the colleges. We have so many talented sports personalities at colleges. We have already booked the National Sports Stadium,” he said.

The disciplines that will be competed in are basketball, soccer, volleyball, cricket, chess, darts, table tennis, lawn tennis and athletics.
