Bigboy Mawiwi’s men outclassed their more illustrious opponents in all aspects of the game except on the score board. The premiership debutantes carved out good chances in the first half of the match, often advancing into good attacking positions but their forays fizzled out in the final third because of poor play.

They could have easily wrapped up the match against an uninspiring CAPS United that left manager Sean Connor scratching for answers after failing to register a victory in all matches they have played so far.

United had referee Nkanyiso Moyo to thank after he awarded them what appeared to be a dubious penalty in the second half. Moyo adjudged that Harare City defender Titus Petros had illegally upended Clive Kawinga in the box as he charged for goal when it appeared from a neutral observer that it was a fair challenge.

Goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda stepped up to convert the penalty on 53rd minute. But CAPS United’s hopes of bagging maximum points were dashed when Muvuti, who came in for skipper Godfrey Nguwodzawo in the 66th minute, connected a cross from the left by Raphael Manuvire four minutes into added time. The draw ensured Mawiwi’s men extended their unbeaten run in the league.

In Zvishavane, Mike Madyira reports that Nelson Mazivisa and Charles Sibanda grabbed a brace each as FC Platinum and Shabanie Mine shared spoils in a tense Castle Lager premiership match at Mandava yesterday.

However,  the Zvishavane derby belonged to 10-men Shabanie Mine who overturned a 2 goal deficit after Sibanda had thrust the platinum miners ahead with two goals inside three minutes early in the game.

Platinum reject Mazivisa, led the Shabanie comeback as he returned to haunt his former pay masters with a brilliant diving header on the half hour mark before converting from a penalty spot just after the restart.

It was the striker’s second brace of the season which took his tally to five goals in four matches.  Shabanie paid dearly for pathetic defending as Sibanda disposed Boniface Dimanji in the 14th minute to rifle home a stinger which hit the woodwork first enroute the back of the net past a hapless Shabanie goalie Victor Twaliki.

Three minutes later Dimanji turned villain again after losing possession to the same customer in the box who easily scored from a close range. Mazivisa reduced the arrears with a header after getting to the end of a William Gonya cross from the right.

Barely a minute in the second half, Mazivisa earned Chinda Boys a penalty when he was fouled by Daniel Vheremu in the box. Up stepped Mazivisa to complete his brace.
