BY SILENCE CHARUMBIRAZimbabwean film lovers can look forward to a new movie by the end of the year.

Titled Zambezi, the film begins shooting on June 1 and is expected on the market by the beginning of the festive season.

Speaking in an interview early this week, writer of the movie Marc Mandishora aka Mandisoul said the project was targeted at the World Tourism Summit to be held in Zimbabwe later this year.

“It is something different that has never been done in Zimbabwe and it should go a long way in marketing the country’s tourist resorts,” said Mandisoul.

He said the storyline has a dynamic universal scope. He said the movie follows a riveting story of a treasure search that takes the adventurers to most of the country’s tourist resorts. It hinges on a mythical of puzzles that keeps taking twists and turns until they get to the Zimbabwe Ruins.

“The search ends at the Great Zimbabwe and it qualifies the film as a historical and marketing tool as it takes the viewers around the country,” said Mandisoul.

“We are targeting a multi-racial cast so that the project carries a blend of cultures.”

The auditions of the film were expected to be held in Avondale yesterday.

Mandisoul, who trebles as the writer, producer and director of the movie, said they were employing international production values that will see the project premiering in Nigeria, London and Los Angeles.

“Zimbabwean movies have never gone far despite some being of remarkable quality, so we are targeting spaces that have never been explored.”

“The quality is going to be international and we are engaging the best distributors.”

He said they intend to work closely with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. The film is being co-produced by Joe Njagu of The Gentleman and Lobola fame.

Mandisoul is known for productions like City of Dreams, Dirty Groove and Roki’s Chidzoka video, among others.
