SILAS NKALA BINGA — A 21-year-old Binga man is in trouble for having sexual intercourse with an underage girl several times. Norain Nyoni, caretaker at Lake View Lodge, pleaded guilty to a charge of having sexual intercourse with a juvenile when he appeared before Binga resident magistrate, Stephen Ndlovu last week.
He was remanded out of custody to October 22 to allow the court to ascertain if the girl was pregnant as she claimed to have missed her monthly periods. The court heard that sometime in July this year, Nyoni proposed love to the girl and she consented. It is alleged the two had sexual intercourse the same day and several times later.
The girl missed her monthly periods prompting her to report the sexual encounters to her parents. A report was made to the police leading to Nyoni’s arrest.
The girl was taken for a medical check-up where a doctor said she was not pregnant. But because she had missed her monthly period, the magistrate reserved judgement for further tests. Bruce Maphosa prosecuted the case.
