Must-haves this summer

Standard Style
My favourite season is approaching, slowly though. I love the summer season. It means fewer layers of clothing, fun colours, greater variety, beautiful blue skies and I can flaunt my pretty toes.

My favourite season is approaching, slowly though. I love the summer season. It means fewer layers of clothing, fun colours, greater variety, beautiful blue skies and I can flaunt my pretty toes.

Report by Heather R I have been receiving a few questions about what to wear this summer, what’s hot and what’s not. It is time to trade in the chunky winter wear for the lighter and by far more interesting summer wear.

THE BLAZER (with the turned up sleeves) This is still very in, except this summer in addition to the standard black blazer, buy one in a vibrant colour like emerald green, coral, electric blue, white, yellow or anything else that pops. Do not shy away from colour, embrace it instead. A blazer is a classic.

NAUTICAL STRIPES This is another trend that is sticking around from last summer. Buy a striped jacket, t-shirt, shorts, dress, jersey, anything that catches your eye, as long as it is striped get it. Pair you nautical stripes with white or red or jeans. You can also pair with neon trousers, blouses, etcetera, depending on what aspect of your outfit is striped.

WHITE White is still here. It is simple yet classically stylish. Pairing with metallic accessories and shoes is one way to wear your white. White looks resplendent against our brown skin. The contrast is amazing. I have a substantial collection of white clothes and it is still growing.

NEONS If it looks like a highlighter, it is in. Find the one that you love and incorporate it in your wardrobe. Neon skinny jeans are still in. Not brave enough to rock a neon outfit? Buy neon shoes instead. They add fun to your attire. Try a neon handbag too. When wearing a neon dress, couple it with a pair of nude heels so you are not blinding us.

POLKA DOTS Your wardrobe needs some polka dots. Wear them on your dress, skirt, swim wear, head band, anyhow really.

MULTI-COLOURED SHOES These are increasing in popularity. Why wear one colour when you can wear four or five at once?  You can keep the rest of your clothing plain so that the shoe pops take centre stage.

PLATFORMS AND WEDGES Platform heels and wedges are still with us for yet another season which is good news because these shoes are comfortable and result in less back pain or sore feet.
