More than 60 people took part in a seven-kilometre sponsored walk, organised by Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) in Bulawayo yesterday.

Report by Sheryleen Masuku The walk was aimed at raising funds for Ekuphumuleni Old People’s home and Entembeni Old People’s home, both in Bulawayo.

A number of companies took part in the walk, among them  Fawcett Security, Emirates Ambulance Services, Bootlebag Marketing and Mbizo Meats. Bootlebag Marketing provided bottled water for the participants.

One of the organisers, Sichelisile Bafana said they were impressed by the high turnout that characterised the charity walk, with the youngest participant being an eight-year-old girl who became the centre of attraction.

AMH Bulawayo manager, Peter Dube was upbeat over the success of the walk.

“We are impressed by the high turnout at this event. Having senior management from various companies taking part in this sponsored walk makes us happy. Though it seemed it would rain, we are happy that participants were determined to continue with the walk,” Dube said.

Fawcett Security donated US$500 dollars towards Ekuphumuleni, while Mbizo Meats donated 100 kg of maize.
