Fans of the women’s game last saw action on October 6, as the league took a hiatus to allow clubs to get funds from the sponsor for the remainder of the campaign.

Fixtures secretary Theresa Maguraushe confirmed to Standardsport the next round of fixtures will be out before the end of the week.

“Sponsors were sorting out some monetary issues with clubs going into the second half. Hopefully, all is done and dusted for us to get started again,” Maguraushe said.

Maguraushe expressed satisfaction with the level of football displayed so far and said the sponsorship had helped a lot in creating a competitive atmosphere in the league.

The battle for the championship is still fierce with defending champions Black Rhinos Queens leading the pack with 29 points from 12 matches, one point adrift of second-placed Mufakose Queens.

Inline Soccer Academy and Flame Lily are in hot pursuit as they lie third and fourth with 26 and 22 points respectively.

The battle for the Golden Boot award is as hot as ever with Rhinos’ Mighty Warriors striker Rutendo Makore leading the goalscorer’s charts with 25 goals ahead of Erina Jeke who has banged in 16 times so far.

Meanwhile, Maguraushe said that the Mighty Warriors’ annual Unity Day match was still on the cards though their opposition was yet to be known.

Zimbabwe are holders of the trophy, having beaten South Africa 3-0 in last year’s final.
