The renowned musicians said they only met at private functions but this show would join them on stage.

Pastor Charamba said he has so much respect for Mtukudzi and is looking forward to worshipping with the superstar.

“I have always respected Tuku and it is good that we are performing together. He has done various gospel songs that we can identify with. He is a great musician locally and internationally. We hope fans will enjoy the show,” said Charamba.

An official from Tuku Music said they were promising a good performance as usual.

“Tuku takes every show seriously and he will treat this gig with the same attitude. It is good that our fans will also have a chance to worship with the Charambas during the show. It will also be a chance for those that follow the Charambas’ shows to see us in action,” said the official.

The show will be one of the many gigs that have seen gospel musicians sharing the stage with their secular counterparts.

Organisers of the show said they had brought the two musicians together to create an exciting family fun day.

“Both musicians are popular in their own rights. We have brought them together to prepare families for a good outing,” said a spokesperson. “We have seen mothers and their children attending gospel shows in the absence of fathers. On the other hand, men go to those night shows without their wives and children. This show will bridge that gap. We will have those that attend Tuku’s shows at night and those that enjoy worshipping with the Charambas enjoying music together. It is an ideal event for the family.”

The organisers ensured that some that want to party until late hours are catered for through an after-party event featuring Tryson Chimbetu at the same venue.

Chimbetu will go on stage just after the Charamba-Tuku affair.
